What is Cagrilinitide?

Cagrilintide (Long-Acting Amylin Analog)

Mechanism of Action

Cagrilintide is a long-acting synthetic analog of amylin, a hormone naturally co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells. It acts as a dual agonist at both the amylin and calcitonin receptors. Research indicates it slows gastric emptying, promotes satiety signalling in the hypothalamus, and modulates food intake. It is most studied for its synergistic effects when paired with the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide (a combination referred to in research as CagriSema), where the two mechanisms complement each other across appetite and glucose pathways.
